We are the generation that refuses to inherit limits. The generation that sees possibility where others see problems. The generation stubborn enough to believe that Africa’s greatest days are not behind us, they are being built right now.

Because the future of Africa will not be written somewhere else. It is being written here. By African hands. African minds. We believe in the power of us Africans, as a collective. In shared progress over individual success, because that is who we inherently are. We believe in young people, not as future leaders, but as leaders now. We believe in African leaders who practise leadership as service, those sung and unsung. We believe in collaboration over competition and trade over dependence.

FOUNDER

Thokozile Mcopele

Thokozile Mcopele is the founder of Base Afrika – a company intentionally set up to drive Africa’s self-sufficiency through convening conversations that bring about socio-economic change.

She has nearly 20 years of dynamic stage presence across South Africa, the African continent, and internationally. Thokozile excels as a programme director, panel facilitator, broadcaster, and trainer.

Her facilitation is enriched by more than 15 years of corporate leadership experience. Most recently, she served as Director at Visa, overseeing Government Solutions for Southern Africa.

She also holds 10 years’ of experience in financial services. This blend of corporate insight and strategic expertise allows her to moderate high-stakes discussions with depth, empathy, and executive-level understanding.

Thokozile holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in International Business from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), where she was awarded Top Student in Strategy. She is an alumna of IMD Business School (a leading global institution) and a proud Mandela Rhodes Scholar who seeks impact in all she does.
